New Year New Me???

Updated: Jan 2, 2022

Have you set your goals for this year? Have you been writing on your mirror or white board your targets, focuses and new years resolutions? Do you have a plan for this year? An endless list of things that you want to do differently this year? Have you decided it's a "New Year New Me?"

What is it about the night of the 31st of December when the sun goes down and comes back up the morning of the 1st of January that will now supposedly magically change our lives and makes us “a new and better person”? Then you wake up with a feeling that is just the same as the day before?

Looking at the accounts of the Creation in Genesis 1 God called the light Day and the darkness He called Night. The part when it becomes light after the darkness was called a new day. So... can we say that the first of January is also just a new day like every other day of the year? We will come back to this paragraph in a bit.

The Anticipation of a New Year

Yes it is a new year, a change in year, another year closer to a new decade, a new century and before I forget, another year added to your age, but for some people that is a sensitive topic so let's move on... As we enter the year of 2022, I am sure we all hope for this year to be better than the last two years. We have faced many difficult situations and challenges and overcame a few as well. Some highlights and some not so much.

A year is filled with different seasons, holidays, some days are rainy, some are sunny, some days you just want to stay in bed and some days you are so filled with excitement you can't wait to get out of bed and start the day. What is the only constant throughout the year? That the sun goes down and it rises again the next morning.

Now back to the third paragraph, just another day, but Psalm 118:24 says: “This is the day the Lord has made, We will Rejoice and be Glad in it”

Make Every Day A New Day

Everyday we wake up is a day given by God, the Creator of every day and night. How many times have you told yourself “I will start with this or that tomorrow, next week or whenever”? Scripture tells us that we must not dwell on the past and forget the former things.(Isaiah 43:18) Jesus tells us not to worry about tomorrow for it brings enough worries of it's own. (Matthew 6:25-34).

Grace for Every Day

The past is gone, the future not guaranteed, all we have is now, Today! Everyday is a new day, given by God, filled with new Grace from God. See everyday when you wake up as a “New Year” everyday where you aiming towards a better you, that now goes without saying but what I am meaning here is, a better you in your Spiritual walk with God.

Don't wait for tomorrow to start practicing your faith on another level, START NOW! Start shining that God given light in you today, not tomorrow or next year. Start inviting God into each and every situation in your life now and stop letting the enemy steeling another day from you. Everyday is a new day where you can continue to seek God, grow spiritually and become that better person God wants you to be. (That person He created with a plan and purpose according to His will.)
